Michelle Obama’s fashion advice just took a hard left—straight into racial territory. In a recent roundtable, the former First Lady decided to let us all know that when she shops, skin color matters. That’s right, Michelle said she tries to support designers of color and even hinted that your closet should be more about activism than actual style.
“If I hear of someone whose fashion that I like and I know that they’re a person of color, I try to make it a point,” she said. “Let us be mindful,” she added, encouraging folks who can afford Chanel to instead think more about who they’re supporting with their wardrobe.
So if you like a dress, make sure to check if the designer checks the right diversity boxes first. Because apparently, fashion now has an “approved list” based on skin tone. And White people aren’t on it.
Forget if it the clothing looks good. Forget if it fits. Forget if it costs $3,000 and works with your shoes. Just make sure the designer isn’t too White.
This kind of thinking isn’t just ridiculous—it’s divisive. Imagine if someone said they shop White-only brands. The media would explode. But Michelle? She gets applause.
And let’s not ignore the irony. Michelle’s been spotted rocking Chanel—a luxury brand founded by Coco Chanel, a white woman with a Nazi-sympathizer past. So maybe save the lectures.
If Michelle really wants to be consistent, she better toss that iPhone. It was built by White dudes. No more Coca-Cola either—started by a Confederate veteran. And she can kiss Newman’s Own goodbye too. Paul Newman may have donated every dime to charity, but he’s too pale for the woke wardrobe. Probably should avoid Mercedes, Jaguar, Porsche, Cadillac and most other cars too since all of those companies were started by White men.
This isn’t about uplifting anyone. It’s about signaling. It’s about dividing people by race under the mask of “support.” And it’s as empty as the promises Democrats make every election cycle.
