Laredo, Texas Judge Tano Tijerina was elected as a Democrat nearly a decade ago but today, he’s saying that he’s OFFICIALLY done with the radicalized Democratic Party!
Tijerina has served in Webb County, which has historically been a deep blue county along the southern border with Mexico
President-elect Donald Trump flipped Webb County red for the first time in 100 years.
During an interview with Fox & Friends, Tijerina announced that the party he used to call his has completely gone off the rails, declaring that he will now be joining the Republican Party – becoming the latest in a string of politicians defecting from the Democratic Party.
“Over the years, I’ve watched the Democratic Party shift further and further to the left and leaving the values that I hold dear to my heart,” Tijerina said, ”I’ve always been a conservative, and the radicalization of the National Democrats pushed me away a long time ago.”
Tijerina went on to announce that he is joining the Republican Party, saying, he’s “proud of that.”
Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt asked Tijerina if this change of heart had anything to do with Trump flipping his county red.
He responded by saying this it has more to do with his “moral compass” than it does with his political ambitions.
“For me, I’ve been seeing this go so further and further left. We need to have border security. I think it’s a little bit more. Oil and gas industry has been threatened here in South Texas. Then to be able to see everything that’s going on from the woke movement from the boys playing in girls’ sports and whatnot.”
“I have a moral compass that I need to continue moving forward.”
