President Joe Biden has made his administration’s intentions clear in seeking to withdraw ALL U.S. troops from the area by September 11, 2021. Trump’s former Deputy National Security Advisor K.T. McFarland reacts.
McFarland advocates Biden should pull troops now and not wait for the 20th anniversary of 9/11. She argues Bush should have gotten us out, Obama should have gotten us out, and Trump should have done it. Instead, America sent trillions of dollars to fight the war on terror and ended up building highways.
She argues the Taliban was defeated within three months of American troops entering the nation. Instead of declaring victory and heading home, Americans have been in the nation for 20 years to modernize one of the most primitive nations on the planet. A nation that has no trade value to us, no strategic location significant to us, no innovation or anything else of value to us.
But war hawk Lindsey Graham disagrees. Graham is a Bush conservative, not an America First conservative. He wants to be at war at all times. And he certainly doesn’t want US forces to leave Afghanistan. Senator Graham says that by withdrawing troops we leave the door open for the return of ISIS, Al Qaeda or another terrorist organization.
If Biden’s really believes we’ve been in Afghanistan far too long, why doesn’t he remove troops now, or at least by his previously mentioned May 1 due date? Biden seems more focused on better PR at this point than American troops, a concern that is in itself a safety hazard.
Listen to K.T. McFarland thoughts on why both Biden and Graham are wrong on this issue and decide for yourself what is the right move.
