Leftists Go Crazy over Exercise Bike Ad

A new Christmas season ad campaign by Peloton, the indoor exercise bike start-up, has apparently triggered progressives in ways the company never anticipated.

Brittany Shammas describes the opening of the 30-second ad, “The woman wears an eerie expression as she climbs onto her new Peloton for the first time. She’s sort of smiling, sort of grimacing. She looks like she might burst into tears.”

The Post article goes on to describe the images of a woman who receives the bike that costs over $2000 as a gift from her husband as “downright dystopian.”

Katie Way of Vice in her article, The Peloton Ad Woman Is Absolutely Not OK, sees an even more sinister tone in the ad writing. “Watch the clip, and tell me this shit isn’t wildly sinister. Her grim motivation that pushes her to drag herself out of bed combined with exclaiming at the camera how blatantly, inexplicably nervous the Peloton makes her paint a bleak portrait of a woman in the thrall of a machine designed to erode her spirit as it sculpts her quads.”

USA Today followed suit by imploring. “Someone please help the woman from Peloton’s awful new ad.”

A contributor declared the company’s 9% drop in the stock market proved people were turned off by the ad.
