Let’s talk about the “Trump crisis.” You hear it all the time. Democracy is at stake. Freedoms are eroding. Trump has single-handedly destroyed liberty. Most of it is baseless virtue signalling, but too many Americans blindly believe this drama, and it even infects normally reliable scholars on the right.
Dan Crenshaw said it best. “What specific liberties are under attack?” The media overblows everything. For instance, when one reporter disrupted a press briefing and lost his credentials, the entire mainstream media called it an attack on the free press. Crenshaw happens to know something about being attack, and he put that language to bed in a hurry.
There are also the lies that Trump and Republicans have undermined the election process. This is akin to a cheating husband trying to shift blame to his wife. Democrats were caught involving foreign bodies in the 2016 election. Both Bernie and Hillary were hit with investigations and fines over it. This is not to mention the rampant voter fraud that has been happening across the country. So far, only two official investigations have made it past the stonewalls from the left, and both saw tens of thousands of illegal votes.
In reality, there is a powerful group of Americans attacking freedom and liberty. They also happen to hate Trump. That’s why it’s such a problem when prominent figures on the right fall for their lies. You can see a particularly frustrating example in this video.
