A sea change appears to have overcome the Israeli prime minister. That’s the inescapable conclusion that one can only draw after watching this clip of Benjamin Netanyahu overwhelmingly praising President Trump after the latter’s visit to the Western Wall of Jerusalem on May 22. Trump became the first sitting U.S. president in history to visit the wall, one of the holiest sites in all of Israel; Netanyahu clearly has admiration for Trump for this action.
Since early in his campaign, President Trump has stressed the need for a closer relationship with Israel after former President Obama’s distancing our nation from our strongest regional ally in the Middle East. Netanyahu’s mentioning of contemptible Iranian nuclear ambitions also is indicative of the new hardline stance the Trump administration has taken against the aggressive Shia regime, a longtime enemy of both Israel and Saudi Arabia, where Trump just met with that country’s King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammed.
Israel has long sought America’s cooperation in limiting Iran’s ambitions as a nuclear power, and President Obama’s laughable “deal” with Iran (largely the work of his assistant Ben Rhodes) now may be deservedly reexamined or even scrapped if Trump has his way.
Watch as Netanyahu is practically jumping for joy at the prospect of the U.S. taking a harder line with Iran.
