President Emmanuel Macron declared Wednesday that France will not disavow free speech freedoms taught by the schoolteacher who was beheaded by radical Muslims last week.
If you weren’t aware there was a terrorist attack in France last week. History professor Samuel Paty was murdered last Friday by an 18-year-old Islamic jihadist after Paty showed a caricature of the prophet Muhammed to his class during a discussion about free speech. After killing Paty, the assasian was killed in a fire fight with police.
President Marcon said, “Samuel Paty … became the face of the Republic, of our will to shatter terrorists, to (do away with) Islamists, to live like a community of free citizens in our country. We will continue.”
Seven co-conspirators, including a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, are under investigation on accusations of “complicity in murder in relation with a terrorist undertaking” and “criminal conspiracy.”
Authorities named the killer as Moscow-born Chechen refugee, Abdoullakh Anzorov.
Among those arrested is a student’s father who called for “mobilization against the teacher” on social media. Friends of Anzorov said he was, ‘radicalizing’ for several months and incensed by the professor’s showing of caricatures of the prophet Muhammed Paty showed his class.
France has been cracking down on radical Muslim activity within its borders for the last several months.
