In a chilling display that shocked even seasoned reporters, hundreds of Iranian mothers gathered last week to offer their own infants as martyrs for jihad—while chanting “Death to America.” And if that wasn’t disturbing enough, a senior Iranian religious leader has now issued an official fatwa calling for the assassination of President Donald Trump.

The ceremony took place in Iran’s Shia religious community and featured mothers holding their babies aloft in red and green martyrdom garb, complete with Islamic headbands—symbolizing their willingness to raise their children as future suicide fighters.
CNN’s own Frederik Pleitgen was on the ground for the event and interviewed one mother who made her intentions crystal clear.
“We want to show the West that we are not scared of anything,” she said. “We support our state until Western nations are destroyed.”
Let that sink in: a mother—on camera—pledged to raise her child for the sole purpose of one day destroying our civilization. And her view isn’t fringe in Iran’s current regime. It’s celebrated.
Adding fuel to the fire, Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi, one of Iran’s most powerful religious authorities, issued a fatwa (a binding Islamic legal decree) that calls on “Muslims of the world” to assassinate President Donald J. Trump.
This wasn’t shouted in a mosque or scrawled on a wall. It’s a formal, state-approved religious edict calling for the murder of a former U.S. president—something that would’ve made global headlines had it been issued against any Democrat.
The fatwa is more than symbolic. Coming from a senior cleric like Shirazi, it carries significant weight across Iran and Shia communities worldwide. Fatwas like this have historically led to real-world violence—from the Salman Rushdie stabbing to Iran-backed terror plots abroad.
And now, a U.S. president—our president—faces a standing religious death sentence from a regime where mothers are proudly offering up their children for future jihad.
To make matters worse, the U.S. remains vulnerable. Under the previous administration, tens of thousands of Middle Eastern migrants were allowed into the country without thorough vetting. Although President Trump has worked hard to clean house and deport those with terror ties, many radical sympathizers may still be hiding in plain sight.
