Turns out one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time might be more than just a kid vs. burglars comedy — it might actually be a full-on Christian allegory. Yeah, we’re talking about *Home Alone*, and it’s blowing up online thanks to a viral deep-dive from podcast host Josh Howerton.
During a recent TikTok clip that’s racking up views like crazy, Howerton lays out a theory that’s got people saying “Wait… what?” He claims *Home Alone* is packed with Christian symbolism — and once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
First, there’s the church scene. Kevin walks in alone, “Oh Holy Night” playing, and there’s a sanctuary candle that passes across the screen — a quiet signal that Christ is present. Then come the big shots: Old Man Marley. Remember him? The scary neighbor with the shovel? According to Howerton, he’s a Christ figure.
“When you first meet Old Man Marley, what’s he doing? He’s salting the earth,” Howerton says. “Kevin makes a confession to him, then shakes his hand, and we see a bandage — his hand is pierced… like Christ’s hands on the cross.”
And the big finale? Kevin can’t save himself from the Wet Bandits. Just when all hope seems lost, Old Man Marley shows up and saves the day — like a savior figure.
Even BlazeTV’s Pat Gray and Jeff Fisher were floored. “I got goosebumps,” Fisher said. “That’s some subtle symbolism,” Gray added.
So maybe *Home Alone* isn’t just about forgotten kids and paint cans to the face. Maybe it’s about redemption, confession, and salvation — all wrapped up in a family-friendly classic the left probably doesn’t want you looking too closely at.
