“Dr. Lecter… Dr. Lecter…” That’s the line NBC’s Savannah Guthrie eerily echoed in a recent plea video that’s now blowing up online—and not in a good way. If you’ve seen *Silence of the Lambs*, you already know that line comes straight from Clarice Starling as she desperately tries to get Hannibal Lecter’s attention. And now Guthrie, a supposed serious journalist, is invoking it like she’s in her own psychological drama.
The video, which is making the rounds on social media, shows Guthrie delivering a heartfelt message—but it wasn’t the emotion that caught people’s attention. It was the chilling, word-for-word use of that infamous movie line. And let’s be honest, when a TV host starts quoting horror movies during serious statements, it’s either a cry for help or a PR stunt gone sideways.
People online were quick to catch the reference and even quicker to mock it. One commenter wrote, “Is she auditioning for a reboot or just losing it live on camera?” Another asked, “Why is mainstream media turning into a weird mix of therapy session and movie night?” Fair question.
It’s moments like this that show just how far American media has drifted from reality. Instead of delivering real news, you’ve got network anchors channeling fictional FBI agents in serial killer movies. Maybe the ratings are that bad. Or maybe, just maybe, they’re trying to emotionally manipulate viewers by using Hollywood drama to make their point. Either way, it’s bizarre.
The Left loves to accuse conservatives of being out of touch, but here we are—watching one of their media darlings quote *Silence of the Lambs* like it’s a TED Talk. You can’t make this stuff up.
Watch the video to see the full clip and decide for yourself if this was heartfelt… or just plain creepy.
