Democrats urgently wish that they could find just one example of a Republican assassinating a prominent Democrat this week. Unfortunately, there aren’t any examples of those. Political violence in America is entirely committed by two categories of people: the mentally insane and Democrats.
They’ve been trying to draw a false equivalence between Charlie Kirk’s assassination last week and the murder of Minnesota Rep. Melissa Hortman a few weeks ago. They want the public to believe that the person who killed Hortman was a “MAGA Republican.” They seem to believe this would absolve them of Charlie’s murder somehow if it were true.
There’s no comparison, though. Charlie was an internationally recognized political superstar on the right. Everyone knew who he was. People are having vigils for Charlie in places like South Korea right now. Charlie’s death was a political assassination and an act of political terrorism. He was killed by a radicalized leftist Democrat who may have had a lot of help.
Melissa Hortman was killed by a lone gunman with schizophrenia. Her killer believed that he had been secretly trained to be an assassin by the US Army. He also claimed that he was acting on the orders of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
