Gloves Off: George Foreman Sounds Off on How Politics has Invaded Sports

The Next News Network shares that Legendary boxer and Olympic Gold Medalist George Foreman joined Fox News’ Sean Hannity Monday night to discuss Americans tuning out the Olympics due to the politicization of sports and athletes showing disrespect for the country that gave them the opportunity to achieve their dreams.

Foreman said, “No good has ever come out of it. I remember John Carlos and Tommy Smith. I don’t know how dedicated they were but they put on a demonstration that’s still talked about. It was so great that the world saw it and they went down to Germany and killed those kids representing Israel. That’s what a demonstration will get you. It shouldn’t be in sports.”

“[They] should take it out, let us go over there, and have a good time and stay out of politics because it’s a dangerous thing.”

The video suggests we should just turn the Olympics off. The host claims those politicizing the games are destroying it for the rest of us. What do you think? Should we boycott the Olympics and help “the woke go broke”?

  1. It’s a sad state of affairs letting trivial people pretending to be politicians ruin what was once a grand event. These athletes are getting cheated out of the recognition most of them deserve by a few self serving brats.

    1. Megan Rapinoe, Gwen Berry, LeBron James………absolutely DISGUSTING human beings.
These people are NOTHING LESS than a monumental embarrassment to the USA for sooooo many reasons.

      1. agree and any others that try to disgrace our flag or anthem GOD BLESS THE USA they should NEVER be allow to represent the US . if they are so against our country LEAVE IT WE WILL NOT MISS YU. I am not watching the olympics

  2. iF we cannot get it right, Stop wasting money sending athletes to represent. Some are representing themselves, not our once proud nation. I’m stuck on Mr. Frazier. Old school warrior.

  3. I will never watch the Olympics or a football or basketball game again thanks to the cry baby prima donna athletes who decided to mix sports and politics

    1. I don’t watch them anymore because of political statements, but also because they have become too important to people, in the process they have become false idols.

  4. My opinion is, that if you are an athlete that was being sent to the Olympics and you disrespected the Flag and or the country that sent you there, then you would be on the next flight out. If these displays happened before you went, then you would be replaced. Any political statements performed during the medal ceremony, your medal would be stripped from you and given to the next person.

The Women’s soccer team has no business being in the Olympics for their treasonous display of stomping on the American Flag after they won their last game to qualify.

I can guarantee you that if that was done in a communist or other dictator run country, then they would have been taken and executed for that kind of display.

Athletes should only be competing against their own gender. That is the gender they were born. No trans anything. To allow biological males to compete against biological females is totally wrong and makes the biological females have to compete in an unequal environment.

  5. I agree with George Foreman. Politics should never be a part of the participants actions. Either they are proud to be chosen to represent the nation they are from. They are to be our ambassadors while there. Nothing else!

  6. An American Olympian represents America and its citizens. If an American Olympian disrespects America in any way by any of their actions then they should be banned from participating in the games. If they have won — they have won for America and their Olympic Medallion should be taken away from them. Those who win and disrespect will have prices to pay in lieu of sponsorships. No true American would support them !

  7. I agree with Mr. Foreman. It is extemely sad that a few bad apples (liberal socalists) have spoiled the Olympic venue’s for all of us. We (USA) must look very unstable and unreliable to our allies and to the world at large. (adversaries included) These individuals have disrespected the very Country which gave them the opportunity for success. Shame on them.
It should be noted that other AMERICAN athletes must not be included with these DEPLORABLES, to coin a phrase. There are several which we wish well and cheer on.

  8. All americans should boycott not only these scumbags disrespecting the country which has given them EVERYTHING, but also the marxist catering NBA.MLB and NFL

  9. If you disrespect the American flag, which you are supposed to represent at the Olympics, you should be removed from the team immediately, PERIOD!!! If you were born a man, you should compete against men, PERIOD!!! If you are a pro athlete, you should honor your country and your flag, and the same goes for these amateur Olympian athletes. I, and many, many people I know have quit watching or supporting MLB,NFL, NBA, and Olympics due to the disrespect. Get woke, go broke, No joke!!!!

  10. I agree. Japan should have kept to the rules of the Olympics. No political demonstrations whatsoever! To relax those rules does no one any good. There are rules for a reason. You cannot use certain drugs and they stick to those rules so why not all of them. Mr. Foreman is correct it led to killing most of a team when it is allowed. No politics. If that is to continue then no more Olympics!! They all are a disgrace to their country. The Olympics must enforce the rules. They were made for a reason. Throw the athletes out, if they do. They are there to compete not give their political views. If there are companies behind these athletics boycott their products too, I am doing the with Subway. Subway’s mouth is a disgrace to America, she put in on a world stage. If someone dislikes their country that much, then leave. The same with all the Sports teams. You are there to do a job! Not to give your political views.

  11. Our family used to watch the games. Not anymore thanks to that person (shot-put) that won a medal and then did not stand by our USA. She should be stripped of her medal and not be allowed in Japan. IN, fact, we do not watch any sports that disrespect our country, Where would these people be in they were in another country- Pack their bags and leave-go to China or Russia as see what happens !

  12. The point of it all is ‘Why allow dissidents a global platform to protest’? The US Olympic Committee, if it had any sense, would not allow participants whose intent is to disrupt and bring disrepute to the country they represent.
All activists, no matter how good an athlete they may be, should not be allowed to participate and ruin it for other athletes who believe in their country’s pride. It is disrespectful to other countries as well to have these dissidents involved in a purely athletic and competitive arena not meant for a show of political demonstration.
