Gavin Newsom and the Democrats Are So Far Gone—Even Their Allies Are Peeling Away

California Governor Gavin Newsom, somehow a frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2028, seems more obsessed with fighting President Donald Trump than with producing real solutions for the American people. And it’s gotten so bad that even liberal media allies are starting to recoil.

MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough, who has spent the past decade as one of Trump’s most relentless critics, admitted this week that thanks to figures like Newsom, Democrats have lost their way.

“You see the Democrats trying to find their footing, and it’s actually pretty embarrassing. Gavin Newsom—have you seen what he’s doing online? Just take a deep breath… They don’t know what to do,” Scarborough said.

Newsom’s official X account has been posting a series of odd, staff-produced imitations of Trump’s online style—an attempt to mock the president that has landed about as well as California’s housing and energy policies.

For Scarborough, that was the breaking point. He urged Democrats to stop the Trump theatrics and start talking about “kitchen table” issues: affordability, housing, energy prices.

“Here’s a good idea,” Scarborough said. “Instead of trying to school Donald Trump, look into the camera and talk about affordability. Talk about making groceries more affordable. Talk about what you’re going to do for housing. Talk about what you’re going to do about energy prices that keep going up.”

But for millions of Americans, it’s too late. Democrats long ago traded in common-sense solutions for political theater. Still, it’s telling—and a little entertaining—to watch their own media cheerleaders finally start to lose patience.

Watch the exchange for yourself…
