Is it possible that Google has a toxic, politically correct corporate culture in its offices?
That’s the charge that former Google engineer James Damore makes in this clip featuring radio host and Daily Wire Editor in Chief Ben Shapiro. You may have read that recently, Damore was fired from Google for writing a memo about the company’s diversity policies specifically highlighting biological differences between men and women and arguing that these differences were responsible for fewer women applying to and working at the company. The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, wrote that Damore’s termination was allegedly due to the act of “[advancing] harmful gender stereotypes.”
Damore has since filed a lawsuit against Google for his termination with the National Labor Relations Board. Damore essentially is accusing Google of being run like a cult, whereby thinking or behavior outside of expected norms (in Google’s case, very politically correct ones) results in ostracization, disciplinary action and/or expulsion. After his firing, Damore said he received many private messages of support from Google employees. A “town hall” event discussing the case to be led by CEO Pichai was canceled after some of the questions that were to be asked by employees were leaked to conservative news outlets, including Breitbart News.
In this interview, Shapiro gives Damore a much better chance to clarify many of the things he expressed in his memo, many of which have been distorted or omitted in articles about it in liberal outlets such as The New York Times and The Washington Post. Watch and see what Damore has to say about his former employer and the topic of political correctness in general.
