Family of Arizona Toddler Saved by Dog Speaks Out for First Time

An Arizona couple went through a nightmare last week when their 2-year-old son wandered off into the wilderness and didn’t come back. Fortunately, the story had a happy ending. The parents are now calling it a miracle after a local rancher’s dog found the boy and led him back to safety.

The boy’s father was working on the family’s roof and the mother was tending to their 1-year-old when she heard Bowden walk outside the house. When she called him back in, the boy didn’t respond.

It started a frantic search when Bowden Allen disappeared. The couple initially called relatives to help search for him, followed by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office. More than 40 rescuers spent the entire night looking for the boy in the wilderness. A Department of Public Safety helicopter spotted two mountain lions in the nearby desert overnight.

About 16 hours later, the boy came wandering out of the desert at a nearby rancher’s home. The rancher’s dog, an Anatolian Pyrenees, had led the boy back to safety.

Other than being hungry and having a few minor scratches on his arm, Bowden was uninjured. Check it out:
