The new CDC guidelines reducing quarantine time after COVID exposure have opened the agency to widespread mockery and claims that economics and politics are guiding decisions more than “the science.” Even prior CDC fans in the liberal press have begun piling on, including The Daily Show.
Jimmy and comedian Kurt Metzger discuss this curious shift in the narrative over the CDC and isolation in the latest video from “The Jimmy Dore Show.”
Americans should be upset, as its now obvious the CDC is putting profit ahead of American’s health. This move is all about putting Americans back to work in the shortest amount of time as possible.
But the admission also shows the issue is not just about science. The CDC’s leaders have said the change is also impacted by what Americans will endure.
In other words, Americans won’t put up with 10 days of quarantine when a million-plus people are testing positive per day. The economy can’t take it either. Instead, cutting the time away in half makes it possible to keep more offices and schools open so the nation isn’t a total disaster.
But the changes won’t be enough to make up for two years of politically-motivated guidelines. Dore doesn’t hold back as he and his guest take on the conflicts that continue to emerge in the CDC’s guidelines.
