The term “white privilege” has been floating around for decades, but in the most recent Presidential election, the Democratic Party continually used it to describe Donald Trump. The fact that it continued to come up in every primary debate indicates the party really wanted minorities to vote for it and to see that it truly cared about them. The political party that created the KKK, slavery and split from the Union wanted minorities to believe it had their best interest at heart. So is there such a thing as white privilege, or is it more or less attempting to guilt individuals into feeling bad while attempting to bring others to a political ideology simply because a party wants more votes?
Providing a blanket term for an entire race is dangerous. Whether good or bad, judging an entire race off of a term like “white privilege” can have devastating consequences. Realistically, it comes down to a case by case basis. Does a major R&B musician receive more privilege than the average union worker constructing American cars? Absolutely. Does it have anything to do with the color of their skin? Most likely not. It would be false to say people are never treated poorly because of their skin. But using a blanket term is also false as nothing should describe an entire race. Destroying the myth of white privilege? Check out the video link to see more.
