Democrats Rethink 2028: Bring In Two New Faces to Appeal to Moderates

Well, looks like the Democrats are already in panic mode for 2028—and we’re still in 2025. The Left’s top-tier options? Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom. That’s not a presidential ticket, that’s a political horror show.

Kamala Harris, who had the lowest ratings of any VP in polling history is still somehow still being floated as a serious contender. The woman who can only deliver word salads for answers, laughs at serious issues and apparently thinks being gay is too big of an obstacle for being a VP is someone who Democrats say let’s consider her for the nation’s highest office. Insane.

And then there’s California’s golden boy, Gavin Newsom. Well he’s not so golden anymore, nearly 2/3rds of Californians disapprove of his job performance as governor. Perhaps his unlikeability stems from the fact he locked down his entire state–39 million people–during COVID—then got caught dining maskless at a fancy restaurant. His state’s economy is in the toilet. Businesses are fleeing. Homelessness is out of control. But hey, he looks “presidential,” right? That’s apparently enough for Democrats these days.

Even liberal voters are getting tired of these two. Enter a new wave of names being floated—two Democrat governors who, believe it or not, are getting some buzz for not being total disasters: Wes Moore of Maryland and Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania.

Now, we’re not saying they’re good. Let’s not get carried away. But compared to Kamala and Newsom? They’re practically JFK and FDR.

Wes Moore is a fresh face, a former Army captain and author, now trying to keep Maryland from turning into mini-California. Stephen A. Smith, yes *that* Stephen A. Smith, even called him the “real deal.” Apparently, Moore can actually talk to people outside the MSNBC echo chamber. That alone makes him a unicorn in today’s Democrat Party.

Then there’s Josh Shapiro from Pennsylvania. He’s been sticking to the basics—keeping the lights on, managing crises without turning them into media circuses, and appealing to moderates. He’s not shouting into microphones or lighting Twitter on fire, which—for Democrats—is starting to look revolutionary.

Why are these men being floated for 2028? Simple. Because the Democrat bench is *that* weak. When your top options are Kamala and Newsom, two politicians with all the charisma of a DMV waiting room, you start looking for anything that doesn’t immediately sink the ship.

And Stephen A. Smith, normally yelling about basketball, is now yelling about politics—and let’s be real, he might be making more sense than half of Congress. He says Wes Moore and Josh Shapiro are the future of the Democratic Party. That’s his bet. He even hints they’re better equipped to take on a Republican powerhouse in 2028—because if the Left actually wants to compete, they can’t keep dragging out the same old failures and hoping America forgets.

Is this a sign that Democrats are finally ready to move on from their walking PR disasters? Probably not, Gavin and Kamala are still beating them in every 2028 poll. And knowing how the DNC works, they’ll probably still find a way to hand the nomination to Kamala or Gavin just in time to lose another election. They did it to Bernie in favor of Hillary so don’t think they won’t do it again.

Want to hear Stephen A. Smith explain why he’s backing Moore and Shapiro? Trust us—it’s worth the watch.
