It’s way too soon for Republicans to celebrate and become complacent, and polls are always mercurial, but Democrats have received some dreadful polling numbers. In eight key battleground states, a new Washington Post/ABC poll revealed shocking Republican gains.
Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin showed Republicans with a 58% (+23) over dismal Democrat polling of a hard-core 35%. In the rest of the country, Republicans were up seven points with a 49% to Democrats’ 42%.
In a tongue-in-cheek spirit of bi-partisanship, Mike Huckabee advises Democrats to start working on their résumés so they can get good lobbying jobs after the Republicans sweep both houses in 2022.
Accompanying the reversal of Democrat hopes in the midterms has been the collapse of the media narrative. Inclined to question and contradict President Trump (even if he just said “good morning”), the media, typified by Russian collusion pusher Rachel Maddow at MSNBC, got it so wrong that even their hard-core readers had to hold their nose.
A case in point was the headline-dominating fictional intelligence dossier paid for by the Hillary Clinton campaign. The glib and self-assured Maddow latched on to every lie spoken by the likes of Rep. Adam Schiff as if the latest “revelation” would be the final nail in the President’s coffin.
Now that Rachel has been consigned to their deserved status of discredited liars, did shed pay a price for their wishful polemics and overreach? As Mike Huckabee points out, she didn’t. Maddow got promoted, and the man who first published the bogus dossier became the media columnist for the New York Times.
