But instead of owning up to how we got here, Democrats continue trying to rewrite history—this time on CNN, where the blame for inflation was absurdly laid at Trump’s feet.
During a recent segment, Democratic New York mayoral candidate Michael Blake claimed that Republicans “cannot articulate a policy agenda” to make Americans’ lives more affordable. His argument was not only thin, it ignored the real source of today’s affordability crisis: the policies of Joe Biden and the Democrats who backed him.
CNN commentator Scott Jennings, one of the few conservatives the network allows on air, quickly pointed out the glaring contradiction. “Well it doesn’t make me very nervous to hear Democrats, with a straight face, looking into a television camera and saying ‘boy, how did we get to this affordability crisis’ given that we all know how we got there over the last four years,” Jennings said.
The facts back him up. Inflation didn’t spiral under Trump—it exploded under Biden. Trillions in reckless Democrat spending, combined with policies that strangled energy production and raised costs for businesses, created the perfect storm for record inflation. Families saw their grocery bills skyrocket, rent hit all-time highs, and real wages fall behind as everyday essentials became harder to afford.
Yet, instead of acknowledging this reality, Blake went so far as to suggest Trump was somehow responsible for “Bidenflation.” Jennings was quick to dismantle that claim. “So you’re saying we had no affordability crisis during the Biden years? Where did the inflation come from?” he pressed.
It’s a straightforward question Democrats can’t answer, because the evidence is clear. Inflation was the direct result of Democrat leadership and their policies. For years, Biden and his allies insisted the economy was “strong as hell.” Now that Americans are living with the fallout, they want to pin the blame elsewhere.
Democrats created the crisis. Trump inherited it, and he’s working to fix it. Pretending otherwise isn’t just disingenuous—it’s insulting to the millions of Americans who lived through Biden’s economic disaster.
