Oops… That’s probably not the answer he was looking for!
In this brief clip, CNN globalist tool Fareed Zakaria interviews Democratic Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, who grudgingly admits that former President Obama was at least partially to blame for the extent and lack of a significant response to attempted Russian hacking of the 2016 election.
Although Warner dissembles and tries to qualify his remarks, he clearly targets the former president for guilt in the affair, as much as he probably would also like to smear current President Trump. After all, it was Trump who recently tweeted, “Since the Obama administration was told way before the 2016 election that the Russians were meddling, why no action? Focus on them, not T[rump]!” in response to a Washington Post story on the issue.
The president was one of the strongest accusers of Obama and his cabinet, but he was far from the only one. The fact of the matter is that Obama likely took no action because he was expecting Hilary Clinton to win in a landslide victory, in which case he definitely didn’t want to even whisper that there were attempts (albeit unsuccessful ones) being made by a foreign power to “rig” the election.
In December 2016, after the election was over, Obama did take the step of closing two Russian diplomatic compounds in New York and Maryland from which there was alleged “espionage” taking place, but this effort was criticized by many observers as “too little, too late” of a response.
The question now should be, should the Department of Justice or independent special counsel Robert Mueller take further action against Obama or officials from his administration?
Watch as Zakaria’s probing seems to elicit more of a response from the Virginia Senator than he probably wished for.
