Texas Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar said nothing has changed since President Joe Biden’s Vice President and border crisis czar Kamala Harris’ trip to Latin America, during a segment on CNN’s “Newsroom” with Erica Hill this week.
Conservative Americans know this is true, but it’s rare to hear this admitted from a Democrat. But Cuellar lives there. He sees it every day. Just because Harris showed up in El Paso for a couple of hours doesn’t mean the border crisis is any different than before her trip.
In fact, in the two months following her visit, monthly statistics for illegal immigrants have actually been higher. Who knows what the next month’s total will be, as 15,000 illegal immigrants from Haiti crossed the Rio Grande to move in under the Del Rio International Bridge in the past week.
The Biden administration said these people would be deported to Haiti. Out of 15,000 or more, only about 1,400 have been deported. Even if you’re not an expert at math, it’s clear that’s below 10 percent.
Where are the other 90 percent headed? Many to communities near you. From planes to buses to traveling on foot, new neighbors are appearing from all kinds of nations recently under Biden’s open border policies. Cuellar’s district is the new front door to America. It’s one he’s ready to close, if he could just get some help from leaders in Washington.
