‘Conservative’ Influencers Caught Selling Out MAGA for Big Soda

A mini-scandal erupted over the weekend on social media that you may not have heard about yet. A bunch of the most popular MAGA “influencers” on social media got caught shilling for Big Soda to oppose President Trump and HHS Secretary Bobby Kennedy’s efforts to clean up the SNAP (food stamp benefits) program.

Kennedy explained during a hearing before Congress that more than 10% of SNAP’s budget is now spent on soda and sugary drinks that make people fat. He’s proposing the very sensible reform that conservatives have been complaining about in the food stamp program for decades. Why should taxpayers subsidize the soda-drinking habits of people who need help?

Big Soda, worried about the prospect of losing billions of dollars in profits from your tax dollars, started a stealth campaign last week to try to turn public sentiment against this MAGA/MAHA initiative. Many people noticed that a lot of MAGA influencers on X and other social media sites had become oddly libertarian on this issue.

They were all posting similar messages about how Trump was engaging in “government overreach” and that people on food stamps should be allowed to buy all the sugary drinks and junk food that they want.

It turns out that those influencers were all getting paid to shill for Coke and Pepsi.
