Jon Stewart is no conservative, and he’s certainly not a fan of President Trump. However, unlike many on the left, Stewart is at least intellectually honest enough to admit when Trump does something that he agrees with. When that moment came, Stewart had some lofty praise for the President.
Following the 9/11 attack, many first responders began experiencing health complications due to breathing the air around the collapsed building. In 2010, Congress passed the World Trade Center Health Program in order to help people who were suffering from an illness related to the disaster. Under the Trump administration, however, claims for the program are being processed faster, and the awards are being paid out faster as well.
On February 26, Jon Stewart appeared alongside 9/11 survivors and their families along with a number of Republican and Democratic representatives to unveil legislation that would extend the World Trade Center Health Program for the next seventy years. Speaking at this event, Stewart praised the way that Trump and his administration have handled the program so far, saying “The Trump Justice Department is doing an excellent job administrating this program. The claims are going through faster, and the awards are coming through.”
