Mainstream media outlets are getting old. The increasingly look like your geriatric relatives who struggle with email and other technological innovations. Unlike your relatives, media outlets don’t have redeeming qualities that merit a patient hand. Where is this going? CNN seems to forget that the internet regularly archives their footage. They seem to believe that if they tell you they didn’t say something, you’ll believe them.
In the wake of the release of the Mueller report, CNN and other mainstream media outlets have been reeling. They spent two years telling us that President Trump and his staffers unquestionably colluded with Russian agents to influence the election. It constituted more than half of their total coverage since he won the election.
After all of that coverage, the Mueller investigation is now effectively calling all of them liars, and they’re in a pickle. They could criticize the Mueller report and say that it’s wrong, but they have thousands of hours of coverage celebrating and praising Mueller — saying that his report would be the end of Donald Trump’s Presidency. Or, they could lie and say that they never accused the President of anything.
So far, they’re splitting those lies down the media, and like a person who doesn’t know how the internet works, they forget that anyone can look up their failures in less than a minute.
