A Chicago man was forced to pay off squatters who had taken over his home after even the police refused to help evict the unwanted tenants – thanks to local laws.
Only the Democrats can come up with policies SO AWFUL that they force a homeowner to pay invaders to leave his home!
Marco Velazquez owns a South Side property that he is trying to sell but when his realtor stopped by with someone who was interested in purchasing the home – they found out there were already people inside.
“I couldn’t believe it. It was like a nightmare.” Velazquez said.
According to the homeowner, the squatters were a woman and her boyfriend who decided to move in while claiming that they had recently purchased the home.
The couple even showed police a falsified mortgage document, but county officials confirmed that there was no mortgage on record in their name.
Velazquez said, “The worst thing happened, when police told me they couldn’t do anything. It needs to go to a civil court.” He said he was told by police that they could not remove anyone under Illinois law.
Illinois being one of the most liberal states in the country, is ultra-friendly to any kind of crime – including squatting – because liberals seem to think that stopping crime is “racist” in some way.
After realizing that the state’s laws meant he was pretty much screwed, Velazquez saw no other choice but to literally BRIBE these people to leave his home.
“They were like, we want $8,000 of what we paid, so we can leave your property.” They negotiated on the matter and he ended up paying them $4,300 to leave the property.
“We didn’t want to give them money, but we heard really bad stories about squatters taking over properties for six, eight, 10 months, even a year,” Velazquez said.
The crazy part? Weeks later Velazquez received a call from Chicago police who informed him that one of the squatters had been accused of doing the same thing at ANOTHER property after she was paid to leave his.
Democrats and their moronic policies have basically created a new criminal industry out of thin air…
