We had no idea that online sports gambling was wrecking so many American lives these days. This wasn’t a problem that was even on our radar. On top of all the other issues that the Trump administration is working to fix, we now have a known destructive vice that has been legalized in 30 states (and D.C.), which is destroying families and tearing lives apart.
It’s extremely easy for a person to get addicted to sports gambling, especially if they’re carrying around an online casino on their phone everywhere. Apologists and shills for online sports betting all seem to be libertarian morons. “It’s just consenting adults having fun!”
Not when a husband gets drunk at a bar and blows the family savings because he thought the Kansas City Chiefs were going to gain 2 yards on the next play. This is kind of horrifying when you realize the scale and scope of the problem.
Here are some sobering stats: 25% of online gambling addicts get themselves into such bad financial shape that they need to file for bankruptcy. 90% of problem gamblers use credit card advances to pay for more bets. And 23 million Americans are now deeply in debt because of sports betting, with the average amount owed around $55,000.
Tucker Carlson can hardly contain himself when discussing this toxic industry with journalist Saagar Enjeti. Here’s his take on the sleazy sports betting companies that are destroying American lives for easy profit:
