New data released by the Centers for Disease Control has confirmed the doubts many people have had about the reported death rate from the COVID-19 pandemic by the mainstream media.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the top U.S. health officials and advisor to President Trump, said in March COVID-19 would prove far more lethal than the flu. He said at that time, “The flu has a mortality of 0.1 percent, this has a mortality of 10-times that.”
The World Health Organization reported that same month that based on known cases, about 3.4% of those who had the virus eventually died. Two months later the WHO has downgraded that estimate by 90%.
Alex Shabad of WCNC in Charlotte reports, “The virus has had a catastrophic impact on the U.S. killing nearly 100,000 Americans. However, a new estimate from the CDC indicates a smaller percentage of people die from the virus than previously reported.”
According to Shabad, the CDC’s new data estimates the COVID-19 mortality rate is 0.4%. As has been seen in New York and elsewhere, those hardest hit are people over 65 with a 1.3% mortality rate. Those 0-49 show a .05% mortality rate.
The CDC also believes as much as 35% of Americans are asymptomatic, meaning they are infected by the virus but show no symptoms.
