Catholic Priest Suspended for Criticizing Black Lives Matter

The Daily Mail reports that Bishop Timothy Doherty, of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, suspended Rev. Theodore Rothrock for comments made by the pastor concerning the Black Lives Matter movement.

Rev. Rothrock told his parishioners about BLM, “The only lives that matter are their own and the only power they seek is their own. ‘They are wolves in wolves clothing, masked thieves and bandits, seeking only to devour the life of the poor and profit from the fear of others.”

Rothrock said the leadership of Black Lives Matter was profiting from the “isolation of addiction and broken families” by replacing their follower’s frustration with “more misery and greater resentment.

Rev. Rothrock apologized for his statements, saying he had spoken “rather poorly” in trying to point out that there are people who “distort the Gospel for their own misguided purposes” feeding on the fear and division caused by people’s fear.

Though the Diocese has removed the sermon from its Website, portions of are still making the rounds on the internet. The Indy star reprinted one poignant passage that reads:
