California’s Governor Newsom received some bad news this week, as the goal to reach 1.5 million signatures to force a recall has been successful. Though these signatures must still be verified, the movement is now focused on reaching two million signatures to avoid any discredited signatures and ensure the ballot measure moves forward.
When asked about the recall, Governor Newsom answered he’s “focused every single day on getting businesses open, our schools reopened, increasing the rate vaccinations…” Sounds great, but the evidence contradicts his response.
For example, many students across California still have not returned to in-person learning nearly a year after leaving campus to help stop the spread of COVID-19. While other states are rolling back lockdowns, Newsom has used executive authority to implement several shutdowns of restaurants and businesses, including a stay-at-home order during the holidays.
Californians are way past Newsom’s hypocritical answers to the pandemic. Looks like Newsom will have to return to full blown reelection mode THIS YEAR as he seeks to keep his job alongside the many others struggling for work in the Golden State.
