Maine Superior Court Judge Julia Lipez was nominated by good ol’ Joe Biden to fill a vacancy on the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals.
In 2023 Lipez wrote that Michael Smith, a man who molested two young girls – 4 and 9 years old, “had a lot of good in him” and drastically reduced his jail sentence by cutting it in half.

In her Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Republican Sen. John Kennedy called the Biden nominee out for her record of protecting child molesters and things got heated.
Kennedy began, “Judge Lipez, you have more sympathy for the criminal than the victim, don’t you?” noting, “Mr. Smith molested a 4-year-old girl, didn’t he?”
Lipez then used legal semantics to try and DEFEND the child molester some more. She replied, “Senator, he was convicted after trial of unlawful sexual contact under Maine law.”
Kennedy shot back, “That’s a nice way of putting it.”
The Senator asked her to clarify if Smith had in fact molested the girls and she AGAIN refused, defending him further with her legal jargon.
Kennedy continued to call out the judge. “Now where I come from, we call that sexual abuse. You can pretty it up all you want to—judge. “
There is absolutely NO REASON why any sane judge should ever be protecting a man who molested two young girls – ZERO.
Yet, Biden chose this woman. What does that say about his character?
