President Biden is reportedly considering bailing out young people with student loan debt. The Squad reportedly came to him at the White House and said he needs to do this to satisfy the radical left and young voters, both of whom he’s lost a lot of support from over the past year.
The President is also working on moving the US totally away from using fossil fuels (oil, natural gas, etc) and into using exclusively “clean” energy sources (wind farms, nuclear power, etc).
But anyone with even the most basic of economic understanding knows these are not just bad policies; they’re wrong policies.
A quick look at gas prices and inflation shows the problems associated with an energy policy that puts Americans last. We’re even weaker against other nations when they pump out oil to meet demand and President Biden refuses to do so. He’d rather purchase oil from third world dictatorships like Venezuela, Iran or Saudi Arabia than turn back on the Keystone Pipeline and create jobs for Americans. That’s both foolish and dangerous for the future of the country.
And student loans? Yes, they’re terrible if you have them, but suddenly cancelling them sends the wrong signal to the nation. Those who took the loans are responsible for them, not all American taxpayers. Also forgiving these loans is essentially printing more money, which will only drive up inflation EVEN MORE. Not only will doing this piss off everyone who paid back their loans but it will also hurt the economy. That’s a lose-lose.
