The Democrats can pretend that their voters are “energized” behind the new candidate that was chosen for them without their consent all they want but that’s not going to make it any more true.
Democrat Senator Chuck Schumer gave us proof of that when he was delivering his formal endorsement of Kamala Harris as Joe Biden’s replacement on the top of the ticket this November and it certainly didn’t go quite as well as he had hoped.
Senator Schumer delivered what – at least he thought – was a powerful speech convincing the masses to rally around the undemocratically installed nominee but it just turned out to be a painfully awkward experience that in the end drew comparisons to Jeb Bush’s infamous “please clap” moment.
“President Biden’s selfless decision has given the Democratic Party the opportunity to unite behind a new nominee. And boy, oh boy, are we enthusiastic!” Schumer said to crickets.
Bizarrely making it seem as though Harris had actually earned a single vote, he went on to say that she “has done a truly impressive job securing the majority of delegates needed to win the Democratic Party’s nomination to be our next President to the United States,” ignoring the fact that they fell into her lap after the DNC staged a coup against their own candidate.
“So now that the process has played out from the grassroots bottom up, we are here today to throw our support behind Vice President Kamala Harris,” Schumer announced and began clapping his hands, CLEARLY expecting the audience to join him.
After a few of the most insanely awkward seconds passed, Schumer said, “I’m clapping. You don’t have to.”
Yikes – if Kamala was truly as popular as they’re insisting she is, don’t you think Schumer might have gotten at least a few poor souls to clap along with him?
Watch the video here to see how an awkward moment for Chuck Schumer put a crack in the Democrats’ Kamala Harris narrative.
