Everyday Americans have finally had it with Democrats and are firing back at them. And they’re not mincing words. A new video, put together by the White House is going viral, and it’s painting a very real, very raw picture of who’s paying the price for Schumer’s Shutdown.
Spoiler alert: it’s not the D.C. elites or the woke coastal crowd sipping lattes in Brooklyn. It’s the farmers. The workers. The people who actually keep this country running.
In the one-minute video, several Americans — not politicians, not talking heads, but real people — are calling on Senate Democrats to wake up and end the madness. Standing in the middle of fields and farms, they’re spelling it out in plain English: this shutdown is hurting them, their families, and their communities.
“My name is Zach Bennett, and I’m an American farmer. Each day that this government shutdown continues, it is hurting the American farmer and hurting the American public,” Bennett says, with dirt on his boots and frustration in his voice.
Nikki Ellis, a hog farmer, chimed in too. “The government shutdown affects us even here on our farm, we need USDA rolling full steam ahead.” Translation: While Chuck Schumer plays political games, essential services are grinding to a halt.
And here’s the kicker — they’re not just blaming “Congress” or using vague language. These folks are putting the blame exactly where it belongs: on Senate Democrats, and specifically on Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, who’s holding the government hostage over their latest progressive fantasy — more taxpayer-funded freebies for illegal immigrants.
Let’s call this what it is: Democrats are refusing to fund the government unless they get more cash for Medicaid, Obamacare subsidies, and, wait for it… reimbursements to states for illegal immigration costs. That’s right. They’d rather keep the government closed than say no to more handouts for people who aren’t even supposed to be here.
Meanwhile, President Trump is doing what leaders do — taking action. Just nine days into the shutdown, OMB Director Russ Vought announced that over 4,000 federal workers had already been laid off, with more pink slips on the way. According to an OMB spokesperson, those numbers are just a “snapshot.” Translation: if you’re a federal worker sitting around waiting for Schumer to care — don’t hold your breath.
White House Press Secretary Abigail Jackson nailed it in her statement: “Don’t listen to the desperate attempts at spin from the Democrats… They know that Chuck Schumer and the Democrat Party shut down the government because they want to give free health care to illegal aliens, and now Americans are paying the price.”
But there’s a shift happening. Even some Democrats are starting to crack under the pressure. Senate Majority Leader John Thune told Fox News this week that at least two more Senate Democrats are ready to break ranks and vote with Republicans to fund the government. That would add to the three who’ve already jumped ship — John Fetterman, Catherine Cortez Masto, and Angus King. Thune says the GOP now has 55 votes ready to go. The only Republican not on board? Senator Rand Paul, who’s making his own stand — but at least he’s consistent.
The House already passed a clean continuing resolution to keep the government open through November. The only thing standing in the way? Chuck Schumer and his merry band of obstructionists.
So here we are, two weeks into the Democrat-led shutdown, and it’s clear who the American people are siding with — and it’s not the party demanding more freebies while the rest of us deal with the fallout.
The message from Main Street to Washington is loud and clear: Enough with the games. Stop hurting working Americans. Reopen the government. And maybe, just maybe, try putting the country first for once.
