Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son met with President-Elect Donald Trump to announce his company is pledging a MASSIVE investment into America which signals that Trump’s victory has restored faith in the American economy!
Softbank is a Japanese investment firm which is best known for its investments in the tech sector.
Son announced that in order to “celebrate the great victory of President Trump” his company would be investing $100 billion in America over the next four years, creating 100,000 new jobs in the process.
“My confidence level in the economy of the United States has tremendously increased with his victory,” Son said. “So because of that, I’m now excited to commit this $100 billion and 100,000 jobs into the United States.”
Back in 2016, Softbank pledged a $50 billion investment in America to celebrate Trump’s first win. Son says that he intentionally has chosen to double that amount to signal that his confidence in Trump has doubled.
“This is double of last time, as President Trump said. Because I say, ‘Oh, President Trump is a double-down president. I’m going to have to double down.’ This is my confidence level because that has double down.”
Near the end of his speech, Trump busts out some of his patented “art of the deal” negotiating tactics and puts the Softbank CEO on the spot with an ask for a $200 billion investment instead.
The two laughed and Son replied, “With your leadership and my partnership and your support, I will try to make it happen.”
During President Joe Biden’s term, big companies like Softbank were trying to figure out how to get their money OUT of a rapidly declining America and Trump is undoing that damage before even getting back into the White House.
What a legend!
