A Bald Eagle Just Opened the UFC Weigh-Ins at the White House and Liberals Are Having a Meltdown

A bald eagle named Lincoln soared over the National Mall on Friday night, kicking off the UFC Freedom 250 ceremonial weigh-ins on the Ellipse directly in front of the White House — and the crowd erupted into thunderous chants of "USA! USA! USA!" It doesn't get more American than that!

The bald eagle, provided by the American Eagle Foundation, stole the show before a single fighter stepped on the scale. Lincoln swept across the stage and over the heads of tens of thousands of fans packed into the Fan Fest, and the energy was so absurdly patriotic that even the most jaded political operative would've gotten a lump in their throat. The whole spectacle was part of the buildup to UFC Freedom 250, the historic mixed martial arts event held on the South Lawn of the White House on Sunday, June 14, 2026 — Flag Day, America's 250th birthday, and President Donald Trump's 80th birthday all rolled into one.

UFC CEO Dana White, a longtime friend of President Trump, has been working toward this moment for nearly a year. The event featured seven high-stakes fights, headlined by lightweight champion Ilia Topuria defending his title against Justin Gaethje, with a co-main event pitting Alex Pereira against Ciryl Gane for the interim heavyweight championship. The full card also included Sean "Suga" O'Malley vs. Aiemann Zahabi, Mauricio Ruffy vs. Michael Chandler, Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus, Josh Hokit vs. Derrick Lewis, and Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia. Nearly 5,000 spectators packed the South Lawn, with the main card kicking off at 8 p.m. ET, streaming exclusively on Paramount+.

The production budget? Over $60 million. Dana White said the event was happening "rain or shine," even with increased thunderstorm risk in the forecast. That's the kind of energy we're working with here, folks.

The Fan Fest on the Ellipse featured motocross bikes doing flips, a 600-ton, 92-foot mechanical attraction called "The Claw," fighter meet-and-greets, and enough Monster Energy and Bud Light to fuel a small army. Fans from across the country showed up in force. Landon Higdon from Kentucky summed it up best: "Americans, we like watching people fight." Akawsi Mensah from Maryland called it "life-changing," adding, "America turns 250, UFC in DC. It's like I can't miss this for the world."

Hundreds of federal law enforcement officers were deployed throughout the event, because when you put cage fights on the White House lawn, you don't mess around with security.

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance were both in attendance, and Zac Brown Band — accompanied by the Joint Armed Forces Chorus — performed the national anthem as a military flyover roared overhead. Military skydivers parachuted in carrying an enormous American flag. If you didn't feel something watching that, check your pulse.

Now, naturally, the left is losing its collective mind. The same crowd that had no problem with drag shows on the White House lawn suddenly finds cage fighting "beneath the dignity of the office." Funny how that works. CBS News reporter Kathryn Watson noted that "Mr. Trump has sought to bring the fights to his presidential turf for almost a year," as if that's some kind of scandal instead of the most awesome use of executive scheduling in modern history.

Matthew Ayers, one of the fans at the event, put it perfectly: "They spend our tax dollars on all kinds of stupid stuff. Just add it to the list." Except this one isn't stupid. This one is a bald eagle flying over the White House while fighters weigh in for a championship card on the president's birthday.

The eagle moment has already gone mega-viral, with even Barstool Sports posting the clip. Steven Crouse from New Jersey nailed it: "There's nothing ever like this going to happen again. It's definitely unique."

He's right. Only in Trump's America do you get a bald eagle, UFC fighters, and Zac Brown Band on the White House lawn on Flag Day. The left can cope.
