While Elon Musk and the “Twitter Files” have recently confirmed that the social media giant has been censoring people and critical news stories, an interview with the company’s former CEO suggests they have been lying about doing this for even longer than we thought.
Back in 2016, Twitter founder and CEO Jack Dorsey was directly asked if the platform censors the content of its users or hides what it considers to be “inflammatory” content – be it social or political.
Dorsey responded resolutely, “Absolutely not.” He then slips up and admits that Twitter’s “job” is to ensure that their users see “the most important things.”
When the host pressed him about whether or not the platform allows for complete free speech without meddling and deleting “dangerous” things, Dorsey sticks to his claim that Twitter does not censor ANY content – which we now know was a bold-faced lie.
How exactly did the platform deem what was ‘important?’
In order to accomplish this, Twitter had to determine some things to be less important which means most certainly manipulated what their users see along with the type of content that gets promoted on the platform.
Contrary to Dorsey’s claims, the social media platform has been controlling the American people all along.
