What is it going to take to make Democrats listen to reason? Almost a billion people starved to death under the regimes of Mao and Stalin “debunking” the myth of working socialism. That alone should be enough, but somehow it isn’t. Since WWII, more than 40 countries have tried full-blown socialism. Today, only three stick to the pattern, and they are the three poorest countries in the world.
That’s not good enough? Ok. From 1990 to 2007, capitalist investments in China brought more than a billion people out of poverty. That’s one country walking away from socialism. In that same span, roughly another billion left poverty due to capitalist investments across the globe. Still not convinced?
In the 2000s, the bulk of countries in the European Union began to embrace widespread entitlement and wealth-redistribution programs. Many of them inched their federal spending up until it exceeded 50 percent of their GDP. Since 2007, only one EU country has seen overall GDP growth: Ireland. That means the economic giants and leftist favorites of Germany, France, Denmark, Great Britain, Sweden and more have all seen their economies shrink over the last decade. Ireland, by the way, has the smallest level of federal spending in the EU as a function of their GDP.
The failures of socialism are countless. Literally. The benefits of capitalism are equally countless. Yet, the left embraces the system of death and decay.
