Let’s talk about climate change for a minute. Yeah, everyone has strong opinions on it, and it almost always devolves into a yelling match. We can actually settle this debate cleanly and easily today. The narrative from the left — championed by politicians like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — is that we have 12 years to fix climate change or we will doom humanity. We might even doom all life on earth.
For the sake of argument, let’s assume that’s true. If we have to stop man made CO2 emissions or else go extinct, the solution is extremely simple. We can launch a nuclear strike at the 50 most populous cities in the world and the problem is solved. Easy peasy. Nobody on the left is willing to support this idea because they don’t believe the problem is actually that serious.
Let’s scale that down now. Not a single Democrat in the Senate voted in favor of the Green New Deal. This is legislation that carries no action. It’s just a formal acknowledgement of the importance of combating climate change. None of them could even vote for it. That’s how serious they actually believe this problem is. They. Do. Not. Believe. In. Climate. Change.
