One of, if not the main campaign promise of Donald Trump revolved around the construction of a wall between the United States to Mexico. With the flooding of illegal immigrants and drugs into the U.S., Mr. Trump made bold plans to build an entire wall in order to help secure American borders and reduce the drug trade coming into the country. Despite opposition from the left, the Department of Homeland Security recently announced it would start to build border wall prototypes this summer.
Portions of wall currently exist, although these mostly dot locations near major border crossings, such as between Nogales, Arizona and Nogales, Mexico (the two cities share the same name but are different cities) and El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico. However, large areas of the border remain wide open, outside of border patrols made by U.S. border agents.
Those against the wall need to only look towards El Paso and Juarez to see how heightened border security and a wall can improve the safety of U.S. residents. El Paso is annually rated as the safest large city in the United States, yet on the flip side, Juarez held the title of “The Most Dangerous City in the World” only a few years ago.
What kind of border wall can U.S. citizens expect to go up, and how will it prevent drug and illegal crossings from taking place? Watch the video below to find out more.
