The Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, is anything but affordable. For tens of millions of Americans around the United States, their monthly payments have gone up hundreds of percentage points since the ACA rolled out nationally five years ago. Everyone outside of the most hardcore liberals know and will say the act is broken and a bad thing for most Americans.
There are a few good things built into the ACA. The problem is while the ACA helps a few, it causes financial problems for a larger majority. The ACA needs to be removed but also replaced with a more affordable healthcare plan put into place. The exact method for doing this though is up for debate as the failure of Paul Ryan’s AHCA bill last Friday proves.
There are all sorts of reasons why the AHCA bill didn’t pass. Realistically, Ryan wanted to force in a replacement plan so quickly a quality plan did not come out in its place. So, while Ryan goes back to the drawing board, some Democrats are voicing their own opinions on how to replace Obamacare, including former Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
Bernie wants to ditch Obamacare and move to a single payer program in the form of Medicare. But replacing one failed medical program for another failed medical program will not be the answer. Why won’t Medicare for all Americans work? Check out the video below for more details.
