Democrats Attack Trump’s D.C. Takeover While Residents in Other Cities Beg for the Same Relief

As President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard drives crime down in Washington, D.C., Democrat politicians have rushed to denounce the effort as “authoritarian.” What they cannot explain, however, is why ordinary Americans living with daily violence want Trump’s strategy expanded to their own cities.

One Chicago resident, captured in a viral clip, pleaded for the president to intervene.

“Hey Trump, you need to bring the National Guard to Chicago, man. You got kids killing kids, man. That’s not good,” he said, describing the wave of violence overwhelming his community.

Chicago is hardly unique. Cities across the country, almost all run by Democrats, are experiencing the same surge in violent crime — yet their leaders seem more focused on criticizing Trump than protecting their own residents.

The divide is stark. On one side are politicians with private security details, insulated from the consequences of their own policies. On the other are working-class Americans who ride public transit, walk to school, and live in neighborhoods where crime is a constant threat. For them, Trump’s crackdown in D.C. is not “authoritarian” — it is common sense.

So why are Democrats opposed? The answer is revealing. Restoring safety would undercut their argument that only government dependency can hold broken cities together. Chaos keeps people desperate. And desperation, in turn, keeps them dependent on political leadership that thrives on control.

That is why Democrats would rather attack Trump’s methods than admit they are working. The irony is that while liberal politicians rail against the president’s crackdown, the very people they represent are asking him to bring that same approach to their cities.
