Should Republicans be Worried by the Losses in Virginia and New Jersey?

In recent elections, Democrats won two important gubernatorial races in both Virginia and New Jersey. Due to the elections proving close, there are some in the media who believe it to be a warning for Republicans.

It is important to note these kinds of races swing back and forth all the time. During the Obama administration states swung to the Republican side all of the time, so this is nothing out of the ordinary or unusual.

However, it is important to look at the situation and to determine whether or not it leads to a longer pattern. Two wins do not constitute a pattern, but should more come out of it later, it may mean there is more to it than initially meets the eye.

In a recent interviews on Fox News, the commentators pointed out first it is important to not jump to any kind of conclusions, as it is early and one or two races do not indicate what is going on around the country.

They also pointed out that for state elections like the race for governor, voters tend to vote based on local issues rather than send a message to the current president of the United States.

Watch the full interview below and see if you agree that it’s premature to start panicking about the 2018 mid-term elections and the next presidential race in 2020.
