Epic Speech that Puts Democrats in their Rightful Place

Delegate Nick Freitas (a Republican in the Virginia House) gave a powerful speech about gun control that caused quite a stir and the video of that impassioned speech has gone viral.

Freitas made so much sense that Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates walked out of the chamber and then called for a recess to calm their anger. Joseph Lindsey (Dem -Norfolk) later told the House:

“Today, I have been offended as I can never recall since being a part of this body. And I have seen many of my colleagues emotionally shaken and bothered by either a lack of concern for facts or just simply playing to the cameras, I don’t know which.”

The Virginia House has seen a good bit of tension over the gun issue in a body that is generally marked by bipartisan cooperation. Republican leadership has killed gun-control bills introduced by Democrats, including banning the “bump stocks” and expanding background checks.

Near the end of his speech Freitas said that Republicans resist debating a ban on bump stock “because quite frankly, I don’t think any of us on this side of the aisle believe you when you say that’s all you want to do.”

Watch as Frietus destroys the idea that Democrats have any intention of a fair and reasoned discussion about what will make our schools safer.
